Resto Surabaya
14 Scotts Road, #05-26/26A
One day my mummy and her husband were famished while doing their Xmas/birthday shopping. So mummy remembered eating at this Indonesia Restaurant with her mummy and her aunties and cuzzes. So they head to the 5th floor at Far East Plaza. I just tagged along as I was really not that hungry. The restaurant is small situated at one corner.
Mummy remembered eating the chicken fried rice the first time and ordered again. I asked why? She said that instead of other places where the chicken would be diced or placed on top, the chicken was shreadded. Mummy is a huge picky eater, She hates mixed vege to be cooked in the rice, You know those peas and carrots. She said what so fresh about those when they are vacuum packed and stored in freezers. But this dish is load with fresh long beans and they are crunchy. The dish was served with a huge fish cracker covered the whole plate!

For appetisers, my mummy said she likes calamari so thus this is their version of fried calamari. She said not so crispy but juicy and the flavour is there. She said she had better. It is served with the spicest Sambal Belachan she has ever taste!
Last but not least, mummy's husband ordered the famous Penyet but not Ayam but Ikan. It was so juicy and crispy and topped with sweet soya sauce. The tahu and tempeh were incredible amazing. Crispy, Sweet, Juicy, and the sambal belachan it was to die for.

Every weekend after working so hard for the week, mummy and her husband lazy... to cook. Usually they take-away or ordered in. So this is one of their fav haunts. Situated near our home, we usually drove there.
Mummy without fail will order her fav Hokkien Mee and that is if the tall makcik is in the kitchen. If she's there, mummy would ordered coz her cooking is delicious!!! For $4 is a lot for a person to eat, and because there are no taugeh, mummy loves it even more!

Aquamarine Buffet
6 Raffles Boulevard, Level 4 Marina Mandarin
Ok this is the most talked about buffet, coz this is the first hotel buffet with halal cert (although there are others but can't produce halal certs as they served alcohol) So mummy, her husband, his brother and sister decided to treat their parents (mummy's in-laws) for their birthdays. We have never tried this place so we want to experiment. Bad choice!!!
First when mummy read they served oysters, she was happy, coz it's her fav. Besides the name Aquamarine should serve seafood. Nope. Not a single one. She decided to eat pasta chicken as appetisers, which made my dear mummy nauseous.
Then later she decided to have main course. Her husband ate some sushi, which was a small spread. Hawker fare there's wanton noodle, roti prata and chicken rice. That's it! She decided to get some paus and siew mais. Even popiah was DIY style, not many ppl know how to wrap popiah.
But all was not lost, because when we ate was during Xmas, so there was roasted turkey. not bad but when she was eating there was no gravy. Only 1 hr later gravy came out of the kitchen :(
So we had our fill so the best time of the meal - the dessert. Hiaz...
Nothing fancy her, She ate Opera which was ok, but the others were either lemon, cheesecake, green tea. She was hoping there's bread and butter pudding, Thank goodness there was. She took 2 spoonfuls of it and poured dark chocolate sauce. She also enjoy another thing which was durian spring rolls.
For the price for that buffet, definitely not worth it!

Sakura Cuisine
14 Scotts Road, #05-36 Far East Plaza, Singapore
Mummy and her mummy craving for Sakura. Unfortunately the one which they always went to at Northpoint and Jurong Point has closed down. That's so sad!!! They loved the food. So one day mummy found out the one at Far East Plaza still open. So we hurriedly went there... on the eve of Xmas. But thankfully it was not packed
We ordered the usual, Hotplate Beancurd, Thai Style Fried Cuttlefish and Oyster Omelette. Well, the taste was still the same despite different cooks. But the price has increased alot. For 3 dishes, 1 plate of white rice and 2 drinks costing us more than $30. The oyster omelette, mummy complained not that many oysters. That's the only thing she complained. Mummy also tried a brand new drink, It's bandong (red syrup drink with evaporated milk) with red ruby (water chestnut) Will we ever go there again... we may think twice
