Chingay comes to Bukit Panjang
Yeah it's Chingay!!! What is Chingay you asked? Apparently I think Singapore is the only country who has it. Mummy asked her Indonesian and Malaysian colleagues and they said nothing of such happens in their countries. Hmmm...
Chingay is a annual floating parade usually happening a few weeks after Chinese New Year (CNY) so the aura of CNY was still alive. Mummy found this link about Chingay. Penang has it but not as big as in Singapore. Chingay in Singapore is basically floats and performers walking down the streets.
For the past years as mummy could remember, she said Orchard Road has always play the host, for Chingay. And people will watch it for free. She was pretty disappointed that this year, just to watch the Chingay you need to pay $20 if she was not wrong to watch at Pit Building. But she was happy went she found out that some floats will be heading to our Hometown.
Approximately the floats would be going past our area at 830pm, but mummy came down early just in case of the crowds. So she and her hubby stood near the bus-stop and from afar we could see the lights. Slowly and safely the floats turned to our neighbourhood. So enjoy the snapshots. Sorry if we couldn't take it further, coz above us are the LRT tracks.
